After reading another classmates post on the fitness shoes that are so popular, I had to do my own research to find out if they work or not because I wanted to invest in a pair if the results said they were worth it. After doing some research, the truth is that yes, they do make muscles work harder. The catch is though that because they have a rocker bottom and negative heel, you can put strain on your muscles. The article states that while these shoes can give you a better workout, there are other ways to get similar results for a lot less money. By incorporating balancing exercises into your daily routine you can see similar results! Also, for ladies out there who love to rock the heels, wearing these types of shoes when you exercise is cautioned against. This is because wearing heels shortens your heel cord so wearing these shoes after heels all day can lead to you damaging your feet. I guess this is the one time I can consider it a good thing that I'm not coordinated enough to wear heels on a daily basis!
Great topic! I have always wanted to know the effectiveness of shoes that claim to get you in shape. Personally I think this whole sneaker craze is a quack because it is giving false information to consumers. I can’t see how the shape of the shoe can make a significant difference of the effectiveness of working out. People who buy these sneakers initially will start exercising more frequently, which is in my opinion the reason why they see results. We can’t ignore the fact the good old fashion exercise does work, but if people who buy these shoes become more active as a result, then I guess I can’t tell people not to buy them. I can’t wait to learn more about this topic because I will potentially have to work with a population that may be interested in a product like this. Thanks for sharing.
